Jerry – Scene 1: Dr. Howard emerges from the hospital to find Tess (35) standing outside her car’s front passenger door. She unlocks the door with her remote key and her husband Jerry locks it from the inside. Jerry has pulled the hood of his sweat jacket over his head. Tess is yelling at Jerry saying he’s a jackass, for him to get out of the car, she’ll break the glass and drag him through the window. They continue doing the the lock/unlock door fight. Jerry says he wants to go home and that this was a big mistake. Dr. Howard catches a glimpse of Jerry’s mostly hidden face and sees several warts on his chin. Dr. Howard approaches and says if there’s something wrong with him he should let them take a look at it, they can help him. Jerry asks if they can help him with these and nods towards his lap. Dr. Howard looks down and tries to hide the alarm that briefly crosses her face. She says they can help, Jerry considers her words then says she needs to open the door for him. As Dr. Howard opens the door, Jerry gets out and we see that the warts aren’t only on his face but run down the length of his arms to his hands, looks like gnarly, overgrown tree roots. A nearby nurse sees Jerry and screams. Jerry says people are great, real sweethearts. Dr. Howard takes the clearly traumatized Jerry inside.Scene 2: Dr. Howard examines Jerry’s (The Treeman) root hands which are splayed on the bed. Tess and Jerry recount how they went to a dermatologist 3 years ago who removed a bunch of the warts but they grew back, they always grow back which is why, Jerry says, they should just go home. Mark (they forgot to disguise his name) says each of the warts has its own blood supply and once they’re removed there will be a lot of wounds and stitching. Jerry remarks he’ll go from looking like a tree to looking like Frankenstein. Dr. Howard says Jerry is right, the “medical” is recurring and this probably isn’t the only surgery he’ll have to go undergo. Jerry is bitter, looks at Tess and says he told her they couldn’t help. Tess tells Jerry he’s having the surgery or she’ll leave him. As mean and as angry as Jerry is, he shuts up because the thought of Tess leaving scares him.

Caterina Scorsone to guest star
The Shepherd siblings will be repairing their relationship in the upcoming season of Grey's Anatomy.
Caterina Scorsone, who's been upped to series regular on Private Practice, will appear in the third episode of Grey's Season 7, executive producer Shonda Rhimes tells TVGuide.com.
Scorsone's Dr. Amelia Shepherd goes to Seattle to reconcile with her brother, Derek (Patrick Dempsey). The two have not been on speaking terms since Amelia turned to drugs while grieving the death of her father, who was shot and killed in front of her and Derek.
"Family is family," Scorsone tells TVGuide.com. "Regardless of the strife and tension and drama between the family members, there's a bond and a connection that is so deep. Obviously Amelia has a lot of emotion surrounding Derek and that relationship and all the things they've been through together. There's a lot of unresolved emotions surrounding that whole relationship."
Amelia will be reluctant to head to Seattle to see her brother, though she'll get a supportive push from Addison (Kate Walsh) to reconcile. "Everyone can relate to that fear of confronting situations that may result in rejection," says Scorsone.

Todd – Dr. Brown, his sister and an uncomfortable Todd are standing at the waiting area near the nurses station. Dr. Brown calls him Tom and Todd corrects him. Dr. Brown looks at his sister and Todd then asks Todd if his sister ever told him he has spongy hands, Todd says yes.
Tess (35, Treeman’s wife) – Scene 1: Standing outside her car. She unlocks the door with the remote key, her husband, Jerry, locks it from the inside. She’s yelling at him to open the door or she’ll break a window and drag him through it, he’s refusing. Tess looks at the doctors and tells them if her idiot husband would get out they would see he was a patient. She yells at Jerry to unlock the door.
Scene 2: Dr. Thomas examines Jerry and says in rare cases like his the warts get out of control. Tess explains how they went to a dermatologist 3 years ago when the warts were a lot smaller and he removed some of them but they grew back. Dr. Thomas says they need to perform surgery to remove all the lesions. Tess asks if they can’t just scrape it off and looks at her husband who hangs his head in defeat. Tess is furious that Jerry is giving up and starts a speech: she asks Jerry if a few years with her is a waste of time. She says they never go out, all they do is sit in the house. She wants to go to a movie, go out to dinner, she wants to see people. Tells Jerry he is having the surgery because if he doesn’t she’ll leave him and he has nobody else but her. He has no friends, his brothers have given up on him, she’s all he has left so he is having this surgery.
Scene 3: Post-op Jerry is asleep, Dr. Thomas is giving Tess the medical lowdown. Dr. Thomas tells Tess that they’ll have to revisit the idea of skins grafts in 6 months, maybe a year. A dejected Tess says that she and Jerry are over then. Dr. T says Jerry just needs to be patient. Tess begins another speech: tells Dr. T that he has met Jerry and asks if he really thinks Jerry can be patient. She tells Dr. T that she hasn’t touched, kissed or held Jerry’s hand in 2 years because he won’t let her. She loves him so much but she has to live a life and he wants to be a hermit. She thinks love isn’t enough anymore. She asks if it’s possible – that two people can really love each other but it just isn’t enough.
Gretchen (28) and Danny (30) – I’m not going to do a separate summary because the scenes from both sides are similar.
Scene 1: Dr. Thomas is examining Gretchen, her fiancé Danny is standing next to her. They are a sweet, good-natured, funny couple. Gretchen has been having chest pain and difficulty breathing, antibiotics didn’t help at all. Gretchen says it’s either cancer or anxiety about the wedding. Dr. Thomas says it isn’t cancer and asks when are they getting married. Gretchen says in 2 weeks, Dr. Thomas orders a chest x-ray and asks if there’s any chance she might be pregnant. Gretchen says she’s really super sure she isn’t pregnant and laughs along with Danny. Gretchen explains that she’s a virgin (Danny isn’t) and they are waiting till the wedding, tells Danny that Dr. Thomas thinks they are freaks. Dr. Thomas says she doesn’t think that.
Scene 2: Dr. Thomas gives Gretchen and Danny the diagnosis: the blockage in Gretchen’s lung was a condom which she must have inhaled. Danny is heartbroken and furious. He believes Gretchen has been having sex with someone else while he’s waited for 2 years.
Scene 3: Dr. Thomas is with Gretchen when Danny enters the hospital room. Danny is still upset and he asks for his mother’s engagement ring back. Gretchen stars crying asking for Danny not to do this because she didn’t cheat on him. What really happened was Gretchen put a condom on a banana with her mouth and accidentally inhaled it. Danny starts laughing. Gretchen says she choked and thought she had swallowed it, she just wanted Danny to have a good time on their wedding night. Gretchen can’t stop crying and Danny can’t stop laughing. He pulls her in for a hug and says he’ll love their wedding night no matter what because he loves her.
